Darwin (Northern Territory)
Arrived late on at night, well around 2300hrs. We had already sorted out a hostel to stay in as the unfortunately the campsite is too far out of town, so we basically just checked in and went to kippies!!!
The hostel is ok, not the best we have stayed in but its run by the same people who organsise the tours, so we got a good discount on our tour nd it is central so we are close to everything!
The weather is here is so hot and humid, apparently it gets hotter and more humid, dont think we could cope..its redders!!! We just went for a walk around the city, had a look what was about for us to do, went to the aquascene and fed the fish..which was ok but had nothing on the dolphins!!
We found a place that did a dollar meals with a coupon from the hostel, so we went down and had bangers and mash for about 40p english money!!! It was a typical backpackers bar, quite good though and cheap so thats all that matters...they even had a few games involving balls and didgeridos..Paul had a bash to try and win us a jug of beer but unfortunately didnt succeed!!
We also took the free shuttle down to the big shopping center, had a look round there, purchased a couple of long sleeved tops for our tour..keep the bugs away and all that!!!

Hi you two - not had chance to catch up with your site for a few weeks - I don't know how you find time to keep it up to date! It sounds like you are still having fun - I'm not sure all those bus journeys would do for me. I must say Jackie I am impressed with all the pictures of you with animals and wildlife knowing how you are with spiders, etc!!!
Paul and I have had a couple of weekends away since last we wrote, one to Keswick - had a really good time lots of pubs and lots to eat as well as nice walks. We stayed in a little bed and breakfast for a couple of nights. Last weekend we went to stay with Paul's cousin and her husband in their caravan at Arnside, again lots to eat and drink and nice walks. This weekend we are off to stay with friends in York. All a bit tame compared with you pair. We are also busy decorating at home and Paul is away golfing in Scotland for a few days this week so I am all on my lonesome.
Next trip planned is to Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol, Spain again in October.
Keep in touch.
Sandra and Paul Brookes
