Tokamaru Bay NZ (north island)
Was well and truly traumatised when arrived here, first off we left Morere and there had been a bad car accident just outside the hostel, there was a couple of a casualties on the rd side that the paramedics were dealing with, not a very nice sight then just about 3km from the village we was driving to, a motorcyclist came round the corner and lost it on the bend, he headed right for us so we had to swerve and he went into the embankment and came off his bike, he was so lucky he didn't go over the cliff!! He was adamant he was ok and got up and left, but i felt a bit sick and shaky, as if that wasn't bad enough arrived at the hostel just pulling up the drive and 3 sheep came jumping over the driveway, i was like oh my god!!!
Thankfully the place just made up for it, the hostel was lovely..the location was picture perfect, just looking out to the sea! Again not many amenities in the village but the place was just so relaxing and chilled out and great views all around the bay!! We walked down to the end of the bay which was about 4km and went down to the wharf..we got chatting to this lovely guy called George, he worked in the pottery shop..he was so interesting, we was chatting to him for well over an hour, he told us lots about Tokamaru Bay and its history, also a lot about him and his life! I bought one of his cups off him, a little souvenir!! It was so funny though walking back up tot he hostel, we saw dog in the rd and i was like argh look at that dog, we got a bit closer and could see it had something in its mouth, we thought it was a rag at first and on closer inspection, noticed it was actually a kitten, a dead kitten!!!!
